Algarve Training Camp 2011
Carlsberg don’t do holidays, but if they did…
4 of the club’s members, Africa, Ashleigh, Mandy and Richard, recently departed the snow covered land of the UK to seek some much craved sunlight… the Algarve didn’t disappoint!
Organised through Embrace Sports, the group spent a week training in and around the coastal town of Lagos, and by all accounts a great time was had by all. Typical training sessions included a nice 8am swim in the sea out to the rocks and back, then following a quick transition and bite to eat out on the bikes for a few hours, then back to the villa for another change before heading back out for a ‘recovery’ run.
The evenings were spent relaxing in the villa over the excellently prepared meals by the two organisers, Neil and Graeme, with a few beers or glass or two of wine. Indeed you could want for nothing as every whim was met; the only real complaint was that the week flew in to quick!
It wasn’t all blood sweat and tears though as there was ample time allowed on the cycles for a coffee (or beer) and an all important slice of cake, while some of the group headed to a nearby wine yard for a ‘small’ tasting session one evening.
The final evening was duly celebrated out in the restaurant where the friendships formed between the group were cemented over a final few drinks. Sadly though the next day the group parted down their separate routes as everyone returned back to reality, all ready and refreshed to tackle the upcoming season head on with some a new found spring in the step!
For more information on the ‘holiday’ speak to any of the guys at one of the training sessions or check out the Embrace Sports Website here.
All that remains now though is for a final thank you from all the guys to Neil, Graeme and the rest of the group that made the week so enjoyable… hopefully see you all again next year!
