"Another successful weekend of racing for the club both junior and senior. The young team were in action at Prestwick Aquathon on the Saturday. Euan, Calum, James and Erin once again represented the club with distinction. Erin was 7th in a time of 8:31 in the 9-10 yrs group. Calum was 9th in a time of 7:53 in the male version of the same age group. James was 8th in 13:34 in the 11-12 age group and Euan was 14th in a time of 15:38 in the same section. Well done once again to you all.

Meanwhile on the Sunday, we were looking for our biggest ever turn out at a race, for the last official GRC event of the year. Unfortunately we had a few call offs, Ashleigh through injury, Alex couldn't get time of work and Alan was ill. Following a straw poll of those attending and due to his long list of illnesses this year Alan is the latest member of the club to be christened with a nickname. Alan you are officially now called 'Sicknote'!!!!!!!

Despite all the call offs, it was very pleasing to see that we were still the club with most participants on the day, yet another great achievement for our relatively young club. representing the club we had Mandy, Heather, Africa and 'newbie' Vicky for the girls and we had Charles, Andy, Richard, Robert, Scott and yours truly for the boys. Top say we had some pretty good performances is putting it mildly- we had 3 in the top 25 (Charles, Andy, Richard) overall and we had 3rd female vet ( Mandy). This result hasn't changed much by way of the club championship, however if Charles had raced in a few more of the club events, things might have been a wee bit different. In any case looking at the improvement of Richard this season, there will definitely be tougher competition next year. As for the girls what can you say about our super star female Vet- Mandy, her performances just get better  and better and girls you will need to improve some if you are going to challenge her making it 3 championships in a row next year.

Anyway back to the race, first home was Charles in 1:19:44 and 14th overall. Andy next in 19th place (well done mate!) in a time of 1:22:08. Hot on his heels was Richard in 25th place and a time of 1:24:05. Next home was me in 51st place overall and a time of 1:32:17 (incidentally that is the first time this year I have finished in the top half of a race- so i have given myself a wee pat on the back!). Next was Mandy in a time of 1:33:08- great time. Scott was next up fresh from supporting the kids the day previously in a time of 1:36:15 - definite improvement there another good time. One place behind him in a time of 1:36:44 was Heather (oh less than 30 secs!!!). Africa was next in a time of 1:44:57, Robert close behind in 1:45:52 and last of the GRC crew but by no means least was our triathlon newbie in a fantastic debut time of 1:54:43 - Vicky (and contrary to what she feared she was a long way from last overall- well done Vicky, great swim bike and run).

Hasselhof nominations for Haddington - well I have to include myself, I got stung on the leg doing about 30mph on the bike and just about crashed. Mandy yet again conspired to fall over and hurt herself (think its a good job she's in the profession she is!!!!)- but I'm nominating our Rab once again. I was checking everyone’s splits- Best run time Andy - 30:02 nobody close, best bike Richard- 33:30 flying, best swim time - Charles 12:44 - wait a minute although Charles is representing the club he hasn't been an official member this year. Who's got the best swim time now? Why it's Rab in 14:07. What time did he put down in his application? 15 mins!!!!!! By our reckoning this is the second time this season he has clearly been under playing his ability - so Robert has also officially got a new name from the members as well- 'Guiser' so please refer to him by his new name from now on.

As usual we had great support on Sunday, Scott had a veritable clan in support, Carol (my good lady), Vicky's boyfriend (sorry can't remember name) and Steve (still an unofficial member- hope your feeling better soon) - thanks to the lot of you we appreciate all your support.

Yours in sport,

Colin"
