GRC Tri Juniors
Since its inception, GRC Tri has always been devoted to more than just straight up triathlon training; we consider ourselves more an extended family than a sports club. We also like to look upon ourselves as a part of the local community which is why we were delighted when the option of training juniors became a reality.
For the past several months, and for the continuing future, GRC Tri is pleased to offer coached triathlon sessions at West Calder High School for all S1-S6 pupils… and what’s more they’re free! That’s right, absolutely gratis!
The sessions are held and planned by one of our resident Level 2 coaches and supported by our other Level 1 coaches, qualified life guards and fellow club members. We feel this is an excellent opportunity for the club to give back to the community, while helps our coaches to develop their own skills. More importantly though it serves as an excellent introduction for youths into a sport ever growing in popularity.
The sessions serve to develop the three main aspects of triathlon in a relaxed and friendly environment. However they are designed to not only improve upon the basic skills required, but are carried so as to be enjoyable… no continuous 2 hours of constant laps round the pitches for example! Fun races are also included in the plan to monitor development while introduce a taste for competition in a controlled environment.
With Team GB already identifying the Triahlon at the London 2012 Olympics as a gold medal potential, why not try steal a march on the competitors for Rio 2016? Sessions are on at 6pm on Wednesday evenings; so why not come along and give it a tri?
For further information either get in contact with ourselves at GRC Tri or contact your local school’s active co-ordinator. We look forward to seeing you at a session soon!
