Training

Monday: Recovery day

Tuesday: Cycle

A choice of cycles are now on offer as some of our members train with the West Calder based cycle shop/ team 'Pedal Power', while others prefer to remain faithful to the Bathgate hills; either way a good sessison will be had.

Wednesday: Swimming

This sessions consists of a scheduled one hour session at Broxburn swimming pool at 8pm. The schedule varies over the weeks to improve the different aspects of the freestyle stroke, with session plans catering for beginners, intermediate and also for those all ready proficient in the stroke.

Thursday: Running

Meeting at Bannatynes Health Club in Livingston at 6pm, we team up with other keen runners from the gym to undertake a coached session built around 4 week blocks. These blocks have included hill reps, sprints, endurance and pace running and utilise the large network of paths in and around Livingston to keep off the busier roads.

Friday: Recovery day/ light cycle

While some prefer to sit in for an evening with the company of Mr J. Daniels, Lord Tennets and Sir Faustino Rioja, others prefer to head out for a leisurely 15-25 mile cycle. Typically the cycle leaves  Fauldhouse at 6.30pm and heads out into the direction of nearby Forth before returning back again in a round route. As with the other sessions, we stick to the quieter roads where possible while ensure that no one is ever left behind; we leave as a club and return as a club.

Saturday: Varied

This session varies between weeks, but always begins at 9am in Fauldhouse. Typical sessions have in the past included one of the following:

Sunday:  Recovery Day/ Open water

The open water swimming  is held in the morning in an old quarry, this session provides our members with the chance to practise for the various open water triathlons within the year. These sessions were always attended by qualified life guards, and carried out in water that had passed chemical analysis for safety.

While this list comprises only the organised, coached sessions, you generally find that there is always someone keen to go out for an additional one. Therefore, we encourage you to come along and get to know the rest of the club members so you’re never left without a training partner again!
