Club Championship 2010

Saturday 29th January held host to the social night of the year as GRC Tri complete with friends and family descended on the Fairway in Bathgate to celebrate the past years racing. On a well attended night the guests were treated to ‘professional’ dance lessons (no names mentioned), the chance to win a splendid bottle of the finest Famous Grouse, a finger licking good buffet and the raffle to end all raffles. Oh, and not to mention the cheap bar prices! Possibly the highlight of the night though was the chance to sit back and take in the words of the troublesome two; Colin and Rab, as they ran through the seasons awards and prizes achieved by the various club Members. In no particular order these were:

Duathlon:    1st Female: N/A                    1st Male: Andy

                     2nd Female: N/A                   2nd Male: Richard

                     3rd Female: N/A                    3rd Male: Darren

Sprint:         1st Female: Heather              1st Male: Andy

2nd Female: Mandy                2nd Male: Richard

3rd Female: Africa                  3rd Male: Colin

Standard:   1st Female: Mandy                1st Male: Richard

2nd Female: Africa                  2nd Male: Andy

3rd Female: Ash                       3rd Male: Colin

Aberfeldy:     Heather, Mandy, Andy and Richard

Perofrmance of the year: James (for East Fife Tri)

However, the most eagerly anticipated award of the night was undoubtedly the Hasselshoff, awarded to the individual guilty of making the most mistakes/ errors/ c**k-ups etc. Last year’s challenger Acky was so determined not to retain his title that he took a year off racing… it really is that serious. For a variety of incidents (including, but not limited to, overeating massive filled rolls before races, entering Novice events despite being a seasoned Pro, entering Standard sprint times for a Sprint event) went to the one and only Pirate Bob!

Hasselhoff:                  Robert

Coach Carol was also presented with the opportunity to enter any races she wishes to compete in as a token of appreciation for her efforts in moulding us into something that almost resembles a group of athletes. Her initial request of the South African Tri shall be discussed in detail at a later date!

GRC Tri would like to thank all in attendance who ultimately mad the night a success, while also offer an extended thanks to the organising committee. Training now continues in earnest as the races begin soon to determine who shall be claiming the accolades this time round next year.
